Conscience

In this poem Conscience stands for inner sense. And indirectly also asks the question; "Do I have my own conscience?" The very first problem is Society itself. Because there are numerable problems in Society and also confusion which suggest that life is not rhythmic. It is also said that conscience is based on fear not love. This poem also talks about individuality. There is no uniqueness among people he directly asks the question like; "where is your individuality?". In this poem the speaker speaks to himself and gives his opinion about conscience. In poem he suggest lines like; " I love a life whose plot is simple. And does not thinker with every pimple".  By this lines he suggest that, plot means the life itself which is not at all straight and simple rather smoother and with story as well. He also challenge "The Bible" according to which life has form and the speaker clarifies that, "Life is harder than maths because there is no specific formula in life itself".

He meant here by pimple is problems which occur in life. It also means something unpleasant and unwanted. In life you like clear road and dislike pimple or speed breakers similarly pimples are also speed breakers, which do not let the life be simple and clear moreover writes, " I love an earnest soul, whose might joy and sorrow, are not found in a bowl". By this he clarifies the hidden meaning that is about honestly which is very difficult to define. Indirectly it symbolises the fact that conscience similarly can not be, that 'Honesty' and 'Conscience' are very wide forms, which can't be defined in a shorter span like a 'bowl', which is very narrow. So, he says that man should not be narrow minded. We are happy because Society is happy and we are unhappy because it's unhappy.

Thoreau likes concept that Adam was faithful to Eve because he is going to live with wife not God. He is talking about hypocrisy and says that we all poet to be good but actually we are not good in underneath lines; "I love a soul not all at wood predetermined to be good, but true to the backbone".
